Sex is fun and the first encounter is hopelessly awkward. What a humbling game to navigate intimacy with another human. The act is unsure and clumsy and incredibly genuine.“What are you thinking?” I’m reminded I am perpetually hard to read. This translation of an experience is true because here, I establish what “truth” is. I’ve been coined painfully shy before. Although I know it’s somewhat true, it’s frustrating to hear spoken aloud. Nothing is quite as world-rocking or tear-jerking than feeling unheard. There is also nothing that feels as good as confessing my inner thoughts and secrets— maybe sex. Why the fuck is it so difficult to speak, then?
